The festive period is a time when social media becomes increasingly busy with users searching and discussing presents and for businesses, it provides a huge opportunity to increase your sales further. With Christmas creeping up closely now, we are discussing how you shouldn’t use social media over the festive period.

  • Make sure your posts aren’t boring! – Don’t create posts that aren’t captivating and ensure that they are high quality! Many people won’t be working over the festive period and therefore, lengthier and well planned posts can be done with good quality photos to match. As fewer people are working, they will have more time to spend on social media and therefore won’t be rushing through like usual and as a result, will be more likely to spot a post that isn’t good quality. Posting your Christmas Party photos on Facebook , Twitter or instagram of you paralytic may not be the best advertisement for your business. You may want to keep these yourself in a very special place.
  • Don’t avoid the festivities – Using the festive period to your advantage is an excellent way to draw more customers. Whether simply making your posts more Christmas-related or do a Christmas related promotion, many people will expect businesses to embrace the holiday. However, it must be ensured that you are respectful to the religious beliefs of the time of year and that many people may not be celebrating Christmas.
  • Remember to engage with customers – Again, as many people are off work, they will have more time to engage on social media and this is a huge opportunity to increase your sales and increase your brand image. The conversation does not have to be purely business-related and may be more beneficial if they aren’t as many people will be deterred by this as they may find it too forceful.
  • Don’t ignore the Christmas decorations! – Adding small Christmas decorations to your social media pages will add a special, personal touch to your social media pages. As well as this, your customers will then remember your social media page for your festive touch! If your business has Christmas-related products, make sure they’re promoted on your social media too!
  • Ignoring Christmas offers – Majority of businesses will have offers over the Christmas period and these shouldn’t be ignored as this is a huge business opportunity and could give your competitors the advantage over you. Small incentives such as Free Delivery will appear to your customers who will be shopping for presents online so your offer doesn’t have to be excessive to bring in lots of sales!
  • Don’t celebrate! – Ensuring that you wish your customers Merry Christmas is a wonderful way for your business to be remembered. It will boost your brand image and customer service too. One of the most important things for a business to do over the festive period is to have a personal touch so simple gestures like this will go a long way. Thanking your customers for their support over the past year is also a great idea this time of year.
We hope these tips have helped you get a better understanding of how to manage your social media over the festive period – Ultimately, don’t forget to enjoy and get in the festive spirit.

Merry Christmas everyone!
