Every Thursday Evening 8-9pm, just add #Wakefieldhour to your tweet.

So you have probably heard people talking about Wakefield hour on Twitter and how it can raise your brand / company / event awareness across Wakefield and surrounding areas.

We love social media at Bee Social Marketing and enjoy helping others to get the full potential out of all the Social Media platforms including Twitter. In fact; Twitter is one of our favourite platforms due to the snappy posts and high levels of interaction.

Bee Social Marketing created #Wakefieldhour February 2013 and have around 2500 people and businesses networking every Thursday evening between 8-9pm. The local community in Wakefield have really got behind #Wakefieldhour and have got involved networking every week. It’s been such a success, it’s currently ranked on the top 50 networking hours in the UK, currently at 33rd on that list. Awesome work Wakefield!

So, what is a networking hour on Twitter?

Twitter hours are a great way to network, engage and advertise to your local community, bringing businesses together for real-time online interaction. Joining in with networking hours is a fantastic way to potentially increase your Twitter following and engage with your customers or other businesses at the same time. Combining Twitter hours with the already existing mass possibilities on Twitter will turn your business into an interactive, responsive and well-known asset to the community.

#WakefieldHour runs every Thursday from 8 – 9pm and all you need to do to participate is add #WakefieldHour into your tweet somewhere.

All businesses participating will type #Wakefieldhour in the search bar at the top of Twitter and will be able to see everyone’s tweets and decide who they would like to network and engage with further.

I personally like Hootsuite and Tweetdeck; both great tools for managing your social media platforms. You can create a column for #Wakefieldhour and see immediately who is tweeting and what they are tweeting about.

By using #Wakefieldhour in your tweet; the Wakefield community will see your posts, hopefully start following you, giving you more committed and interactive followers. The more people are aware about your service or what you do; the more business you are going to win.

How to get the most out of #Wakefieldhour

* People interact with people. You mustn’t use it purely as an advertising tool!

* Engaging and building relationships with others is the key to success.

* Get involved in any trending topics of that week for more interaction. You don’t need to talk completely about your business.

* Add pictures to your tweets; did you know tweets with pictures are RT more.

* Don’t forget to add the relevant hashtag! E.g. #WakefieldHour.

We hope you can join us for #WakefieldHour every Thursday 8-9pm and get involved. Remember; ENGAGE, ENGAGE, ENGAGE!

If you have any questions or feedback, please give us a Buzz at the Bee Social Marketing team; we are more than happy to help.
