The Power of LinkedIn Content for Lead Generation: What to Post and When

The content you post on LinkedIn should not simply be for likes and comments. This might be good from a vanity perspective but your content should have a specific goal, for lead generation and organic reach.

Content should naturally be engaging and interesting, but it should also have a specific purpose.

Here, we will look at what you should post and when, in order to get the leads you want and the outcome your business needs.

Post Regularly

By posting regularly, we don’t mean spamming people with pointless content for the sake of it. However, it’s important to become a prominent speaker on LinkedIn by posting at least once a week – and every day if possible.

Being consistent in your posts shows you are reliable and have integrity. It will also help position you as someone with authority and who is worth listening to. As such, people will start to anticipate your posts and actively engage with them.

Share Useful Insights

It goes without saying that posts should be engaging, but you should also focus on providing something your target audience can’t get elsewhere.

By carrying out research or using your business’ unique selling point as a hook, you can give the reader an insight and perspective only you can provide, thus adding value to your content.

Market Research

Carry out valuable market research to really understand your target audience. This can also be done through sharing LinkedIn polls which encourage your audience to engage. Make sure these are engaging and relevant to your target sector.

Stay Relevant

The content you provide should be ‘industry adjacent’ and therefore something your target audience want to read. Think about subjects surrounding and indirectly linked to your product/service and your industry sector.

For example, what problems might your audience have and how can your product/service help solve them? These are called pain points, and a good strategy is to write an article where your product/service is the solution to a common issue a reader may have.

Analyse the Competition

Study what your competitors are doing and what kind of content or subject matter is generating good traffic. Without copying it, how can that content be tailored to be a unique piece of content for your business?

Look at improving the content by giving it your own unique insight or including helpful and meaningful stats and information.

Latest Trends

Research the latest trends in your market sector and try to write something which incorporates these, while ensuring it remains credible and realistic. By linking your product/service to something with genuine, organic traction, you can give real momentum to your business.

Variety

Freshen up your content by using different formats. This can also help you post more regularly as it is not necessarily relying on the same people to generate the content.

For example, as well as authoritative blog articles, you can post videos, infographics, and polls or a feature or Q&A with a key employee. You can also write articles which ask a question and provoke discussion. This all helps build authority for your brand.

Include a Call-To-Action

Make sure your content includes a call-to-action at the end. This could be a link to a sales range online, or a website address, email newsletter or contact form.

Including a contact form is great for capturing contact information easily, but make sure it is auto-populated with pre-filled information, and only includes three or four fields. Don’t put people off by making it difficult.

Alternatively, adding your own contact details to your content makes it easy for your target audience to reach out if they are interest in your product/service.
